About Me

I am a Ghanaian-German filmmaker currently studying Production and Media Business at the University of Television and Film in Munich, Germany. I have since then developed, written, directed, and produced a wide variety of fictional films, documentaries, experimental films, and music videos in Africa and in Europe.

I have also gained experience curating films for film festivals like the Filmschoolfest Munich under the HFF Special category .

For the past two years, I have also been working for the Legal and Business department of Studiocanal, a film production and distribution company well known across Europe as a working student.

The Full Story

Growing up in Ghana, West Africa, I vividly recall my grandmother's stories. How we, the children, gathered at her feet eager to listen to the stories her mother or the community had passed on to her. We always waited in eager anticipation, the gentle breeze of the Keta beach, the fresh biscuits that lay at our feet - the perfect atmosphere for the intrigue that would grip us.

There were no cinemas for us to gather at. It was just us gathered together as a community in the open space listening, laughing, and crying together. This is what has motivated me to be a storyteller and a writer and to prioritise the story over everything. I believe stories not only bring communities together but bind them together as well.

This is what also leads me to my goals, passion and dreams. I aim to first, set up a production company in Ghana that is heavy on development and writing. Our goal will be to equip our writers with the necessary assets they would need to tell stories that can compete on an international scale.

I also aim to build one of the biggest production studios in West Africa in Ghana which would serve as a creative hub for both European and African storytelling. From animation and documentaries to fictional stories, I aim to tell and produce authentic African stories; 'a balance of stories' - as Chinua Achebe puts it - that inspire viewers of all ages.

Another goal of mine is to revolutionize the distribution and exhibition business throughout Africa. To create a culture of cinema-goers by establishing both closed and open-air cinemas all across the continent where Africans can gather and watch their stories come to life; where Africans can debate the issues they deem fit; stories Africans and the diaspora can relate to.

It is a dream of mine to create educational centres surrounding these cinemas as well which would aspire to develop Ghanaian and African creatives to another level.

“Stories matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign. But stories can also be used to empower, and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people. But stories can also repair that broken dignity.” ― Chimamanda Adichie
